Guardian Angel Program

The HCR ManorCare vision states that our employees are dedicated to providing the highest quality in health care services.  We have learned that when a person comes to us, it is vital that he or she receives the support and encouragement needed to achieve his or her outcome goals.

One method for monitoring and meeting customers’ needs and concerns quickly is our Guardian Angel program.  Entering a new “home,” however temporary that might be, can result in a lot of anxiety and uneasiness.  Often, the new patient will not know anyone, so the transition can be difficult.  A person entering a nursing center environment needs to feel comfortable with the care he or she is receiving and needs support and encouragement to realize treatment goals. 

Through HCR ManorCare’s Guardian Angel program, when a patient enters our center, he or she is matched with one of our staff members – a Guardian Angel.  The Guardian Angel meets with the patient upon admission and regularly thereafter.  Guardian Angels learn as much as they can about those they are matched with – their families, activities they have enjoyed in their lives, their work and other things that matter most to them.  This interaction not only helps build a relationship, but also can uncover information that could be helpful in a patient’s plan of care.

The patient and his or her family address any problems or concerns to the Guardian Angel, who acts quickly to rectify any issues.  The Guardian Angel stays in touch with family members and close friends and encourages their input and comments.  With this approach, concerns are dealt with before they become serious issues, increasing the patient’s satisfaction with his or her stay.
