Alzheimer's Care

If your loved one is struggling with the effects of Alzheimer’s or related dementia, our Alzheimer’s services may be able to help. By recognizing each individual’s physical, mental and social needs, our goal is to provide an environment where residents maintain an optimal level of self-care and independence for as long as possible.

We promote a philosophy of care designed to support the highest practicable level of engagement and function for those experiencing dementia. We focus on residents' remaining abilities, not on what they have lost. We work to find easier ways for them to stay involved in daily life by unlocking their remaining cognitive and functional abilities and promoting their use.

We provide structured activities that are planned and supervised by trained professionals. Programs are timed and varied to fulfill your loved one’s day while preserving a routine in the familiar surroundings of home. Our Engagement Therapy Treatment (ETT) program is designed specifically for our residents living with memory loss. This innovative approach integrates unique life experiences of the past with present interests. Programs are based on your loved one’s functional abilities and maximizes these abilities in a therapeutic environment.

Our staff is well educated in the disease process and its management. We have the expertise and experience to simplify and enhance your loved one’s life and to help you find the peace of mind you deserve.

The layout of our center is residential by design -- small in scale and organized into four self-contained “houses.” Each house has its own living room, dining room, kitchen, bath and laundry areas. We use visual cues, home-like amenities and walking paths to keep residents oriented and independent.

Other resources

We offer a variety of other options for you to consider when facing this difficult disease.

Many of our Heartland and ManorCare skilled nursing and rehabilitation centers provide Alzheimer's care for patients in later stages of the disease. Our skilled centers provide more intensive monitoring and assistance than assisted living settings.

When your loved one experiences the final stages of the disease, Heartland Hospice Services provides compassionate hospice care for you, your family and your loved one. Our team understands the disease process and provides palliative care (comfort care), counseling and pastoral support.

Our healthy living tips provide additional information for a healthy lifestyle.

Payment options

Our assisted living centers accept private payment. Our marketing director can provide additional information on costs and financial options.
