Heartland Hospice serving The Upstate held a special birthday party on June 12th to celebrate the 100th birthday of hospice patient, Azalee McCluney Robbins. The celebration was held at Heartland Health Care Center – Union.
Deborah Allen, Activities Director at Heartland – Union explains, “Our staff and the hospice team wanted to have a special celebration for Mrs. Robbins’ birthday so we invited all of her family and friends to the party. She told us that her favorite color was red, so we made it a priority to make all of the decorations red. By the smile on her face it was clear that she absolutely enjoyed all of the attention.”
The party included many photographs of her family. Mrs. Robbins was a loving wife, to the late Reverend Kelley R. Robbins, with whom she had six children, two girls and four boys, 10 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. She enjoys being surrounded by her children and grandchildren. “Mama was a great cook and her specialty was cakes,” commented her eldest daughter Elvenia, “after all of these years she still remembers how to make them.”
